Reservation for Dalits converted to Islam, Christianity opposed

A delegation of Dalits from Anusuchit Jati Bachao Manch (AJBM) Monday submitted a memorandum to Ahmedabad collector opposing any move to provide Scheduled Caste reservation benefits to those Dalits who have converted to Islam or Christianity.

Currently, the Supreme Court is hearing a batch of petitions seeking reservation benefits to such Dalits.

If the Dalits converted to Islam or Christianity are given reservation benefits, it would endanger the future of upcoming generations of Dalits, AJBM stated in a press statement.
