The Gujarat High Court Thursday ordered the state government to reframe rules which govern the functioning of women’s shelter homes which have become outdated. The order has also directed the government to constitute a committee for this purpose.

The direction comes on a PIL, filed by NGO Peace and Equality Cell and Sahiyar, that sought to improve the living conditions of the inmates in shelter homes in the state. Justice Akil Kureshi and Justice A Y Kogje, after directing the state, scheduled the hearing post-summer vacation.
