AR Rahman will wear an outfit designed by Rohit Bal for the big Oscar night
Slumdog Millionaire actor Frieda Pinto might be clad in Zac Posen and Chanel at all the various international award ceremonies, but composer A R Rahman is steadfastly sporting Indian designs on his international outings. Rahman, who won the Golden Globe and BAFTA for the music of the movie, has already been spotted in a midnight blue sherwani at the Oscar luncheon and a bandhgala at the BAFTA awards.
On the night of the Academy Awards at Los Angeles on February 22,he plans to go the ethnic route again with a creation by Delhi designer Rohit Bal.
Incidentally, designer Rajesh Pratap Singh was approached to sort out Rahmans wardrobe for the Academy Awards but with Singh being away in Rio,co-ordination was becoming a problem.

Bal stepped in with his neat bandhgala with minimal embroidery, and apparently,Rahman is so impressed with the outfit that he has decided to go with his creations again.
Even for the BAFTA,AR never gave me a brief. For the Oscars were thinking of another bandhgala, says Bal and adds, But he might just wear the BAFTA one again because he feels its lucky for him.
