A local court on Wednesday granted police the custody of Kripalsinh Chudasama, one of the persons arrested for alleged murder of Dinesh Daxini, an employee of Shree Rajmoti Industries, a city-based oil mill which manufactures and markets a popular brand of edible oil in the state.
Chudasama, a security guard at Rajmoti Industries, was arrested by B Division police form Morbi Road on Tuesday. Police produced him in a local court on Wednesday with a remand application.
The magistrate granted the application and sent the accused in police custody till Friday. The security guard is accused of being part of a conspiracy of kidnapping Daxini from his residence in Ahmedabad on February 28 and allegedly beating him to death in Rajkot. Daxini was managing a depot of Rajmoti Industries in Ahmedabad and he was picked up, police say, on the orders of Rajmoti Industries owner Samir Shah. He was allegedly beaten to death on March 1.
Shah, who is also incumbent president of Rajkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is also in police custody after he was arrested from a Jaipur hotel on Friday.
Rajmoti Industries manager Samir Gandhi, another accused in the case, is in judicial custody. Assistant sub-inspector Yogesh Bhatt, who is also facing arrest in the case, is on the run. On the other hand, police sub-inspector M C Maru has proceeded on sick leave.
