A TEENAGER BOY lodged in Observation Home for Boys in the city was allegedly sodomised and beaten up by fellow inmates and peon on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The incident came to light after a teenager who was allegedly beaten up by four fellow-inmates managed to run away form the Observation Home Wednesday night and reached his home in Jamnagar. He told his parents that he was beaten up and that his friend too had been beaten up and sodomised.
Consequently, the victim’s mother came to Rajkot Thursday evening and lodged a complaint with A Division police. In her complaint, she named four inmates and a peon of the Observation Home. Two of the accused were earlier arrested by city police for allegedly stabbing a constable to death last month.
Later in the day, police arrested peon Kadar and also detained security guard who was on duty when the alleged crime was committed. Social defence officer of Rajkot, Kanaksinh Zala confirmed the incident. “Police have conducted inquiry and registered a case. The teenager victims have gone through medical check-up,” said Zala. A Division Police Inspector Keval Dave said that they had secured permission of juvenile justice board to proceed with the investigation. “The court has granted us permission to investigate the matter and arrest the four juveniles. Medical report of the victim is also awaited,” said Raval.
