Rajesh S Adani was arrested earlier too

Forty-five-year-old Rajesh Shantilal Adani,the managing director of the Adani Enterprises Ltd and younger brother of Gautam Adani,has been arrested earlier also.

On Saturday afternoon,everything was quiet at the Vastrapur residence of Rajesh or the Shantivan Farm House of his brother Gautam Adani. The security guard on duty would not know of what had happened as he told this paper that Saab to teen char din se yahan par nahin aaye.

Rajesh Adani is a commerce graduate from the Gujarat University and has been associated with the Adani group for quite a long time. According to the groups website,he has been associated with Adani Enterprises Limited since its incorporation. He is in-charge of day-to-day operations of the Company and has been responsible for developing the business relationships of the Company. He also handles the marketing and finance aspects of the Company, says the website. However,AEL disputed this on Saturday saying he was not responsible for the day-to-day operations.

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence had arrested Rajesh in 1999 on the charges of forging documents and evading duty on coal import to the tune of Rs 1.40 crore. At that time he was executive director (finance) of Adani Exports Ltd. With him was arrested Harish Kumar Gupta,the deputy general manager of the company. The High Court had then released them on bail after two weeks.
