A case of criminal conspiracy, forgery and cheating has been registered against Porbandar underworld don Ebha Arjan Jadeja in connection with a dispute involving a huge piece pf land worth over Rs 20 crore at Raiya in the outskirts of Rajkot.

The case has been registered based on a complaint filed by Abhay Jadeja, son of Harishchandhra alias Parl Darbar, that his family never sold the land in question to Ebha.

The police, during course of investigation launched after taking cognisance of Ebha releasing a public notice in vernacular claiming his right over the property, revealed that the documents produced by Ebha had forged signature of Harishchandra.

“Our inquiry revealed that the documents produced by Ebha had signature different from the original signature of the ancestral owner of this piece of land,Harishchandra,” said Rajkot Commissioner of Police Sudhir Sinha.

Meanwhile,a big question mark continues to hang against the ownership rights over the property.

Three persons — including Abhay,Vadodara-based builder Kanti Patel and Rajkot resident Dayalal Ruparel — have made claims. Besides, the state government, which had acquired the land under the Urban Land Ceiling Act,is also considered to be an owner.

Sinha said that like Abhay,Kanti Patel and Ruparel have also produced the documents. However, with Ruparel producing a document of agreement of purchase and not the sale deed,it has been considered a civil matter, with a possibility that Harishchandra might not have sold that land to Ruparel after agreement was done.

While the Revenue Department records will be verified to check the status for government, the police said that in this case, even complainant Abhay can turn accused if claims of the government or Patel are proved true.
