The HC had also directed the state to pass an order to transfer the missing persons complaint, a complaint (NC) filed by the petitioner at Gondal police station as well as the FIR lodged at Kuvadva police station for a “fresh investigation” by the Surendranagar SP.
THE STATE government on Wednesday submitted a report by a special police team, investigating the death of 23-year-old civil service aspirant Rajkumar Jaat from Bhilwara, Rajasthan, in March last year, to the Gujarat High Court (HC) and informed that it had conducted narco test with a set of 31 questions on Jyotirdityasinh Jadeja alias Ganesh Gondal – son of former MLA Jayarajsinh Jadeja and sitting BJP MLA from Gondal, Geeta Jadeja.
The state also informed the court that the result of the narco analysis “was not in favour of the prosecution”.
Public Prosecutor Hardik Dave informed the court that the investigation by the special team of police officers, led by Surendranagar district Superintendent of Police Premsukh Delu, had been completed and the report was to be filed before the appropriate trial court.
The state also informed the court that a narco analysis was conducted on Ganesh Gondal on December 11, 2025, after permission was received from a Rajkot court.
The state informed the court that an investigation had been conducted into the technical aspects of the case, including a Call Detail Record (CDR) and narco analysis as well as statements of witnesses in the three cases – a missing complaint filed by Jaat’s family, a complaint submitted to the Gondal police station regarding the suspicion against 11 persons, including Ganesh Gondal, as well as a complaint of causing death due to negligence against the driver of the luxury bus under which Jaat is alleged to have been run over.
The Gujarat HC is hearing a petition filed by Jaat’s father, Ratanlal Chaudhary Jaat, seeking to transfer investigation in the FIR lodged at the Kuvadava Road police station on March 9, 2025 under Sections of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for 106(1) (causing death by negligence), 125 (endangering life or personal safety of others), 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) as well as the Motor Vehicle Act. As per the petition before the HC, the father of the deceased has “raised doubt that his son was murdered” as he was missing since March 2.
The petitioner approached the Police Inspector of City B Division of Gondal police station giving details of the incident on March 5. The body of the petitioner’s son was found on March 9 on an overbridge near Targadhia on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad Highway and the said FIR registered at the Kuvadava Road police station.
Following the submissions of the state public prosecutor (PP) on Wednesday, the petitioner’s counsel sought a copy of the report of the investigation, after which the PP informed the HC that the report would be filed along with the chargesheet in the trial court in all three matters – the missing complaint, the complaint of the petitioner at the Gondal police station as well as the fatal accident. The petitioner’s counsel raised questions on the narco test and claimed that the “missing links are yet to be joined”. The petitioner’s counsel submitted that Jaat’s body had allegedly been found 55 km away from where he went missing and had 42 injury marks, including those of alleged rods being inserted in private parts.
The petitioner’s counsel also submitted that “these injury marks could not be sustained in a bus accident”. The counsel also submitted that Jaat had been seen alone in 22 CCTV footage, in some of which, he is also seen without clothes.
In previous submissions before the court on October 15, 2025, the petitioner’s counsel had “raised concern and doubts” about the investigation.
The Gujarat HC, expressing dissatisfaction with the investigation, had transferred the investigation of the case to Surendranagar District Superintendent of Police Premsukh Delu, directing the state government to “pass appropriate order to transfer the investigation / depute the investigation and authorize the Superintendent of Police, Surendranagar and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dhrangadhra and his team to investigate the offence”.
The HC had also directed the state to pass an order to transfer the missing persons complaint, a complaint (NC) filed by the petitioner at Gondal police station as well as the FIR lodged at Kuvadva police station for a “fresh investigation” by the Surendranagar SP.
The HC will hear the matter next on January 15.
