Primary school teacher booked for allegedly molesting class VIII girl

The mathematics teacher had asked students of Class VIII to come to the school for extra classes on Thursday.

A primary school teacher of Talaja taluka in Bhavnagar district was detained after he allegedly molested a girl student of his class on Thursday.

Nilesh Jani, mathematics and science teacher of Pavthi Village Primary School in Pavthi village of Talaja taluka was detained by Talaja police after he allegedly molested one of her girl students in the morning. Police said despite being a public holiday, Jani had asked students of Class VIII to come to the school for extra classes on Thursday.

“The teacher had asked his students to come to the school at 9 am. However, he asked the victim girl to come to school at 8:30 am telling she needed to do her homework under his supervision. However, when the minor girl went inside the class-room, Jani emraced her and started kissing,” Dashrathsinh Gohil, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Talaja police, who did primary investigation of the case said.

Police said a distant cousin brother of the 15-year-old girl who was sitting near the school found the doors of the class-room closed. Through a broken window of the class-room, he saw the teacher molesting the student and raised an alarm. Later on, father of the girl lodged a complaint with Talaja police station.

“Jani is a native of Makhaniya village of Talaja taluka and father of two children. But he is living in Talaja town. Based on the complaint filed by the father of the girl, we have booked him under IPC Section 354 (molestation) and Section 8 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences,” Gohil further said adding the teacher had been detained.
