Taking into account the sharp rise in air pollution in the state’s metropolitan cities as winter sets in, the state government inspected a total of 2,600 construction sites in 17 Municipal Corporations and fined 541 of them for violations.
In light of CM Bhupendra Patel’s orders to take action on pollution, after a virtual meeting of all municipal commissioners and regional commissioners of municipalities, 2,600 of 2,961 construction sites in 17 Municipal Corporations were evaluated in three days. These included 1,303 of 1,563 sites in eight old corporations. And 1,300 of 1,398 sites in nine new corporations.
In addition, the inspection of all 771 sites in the municipalities was completed.
A government statement on Saturday said a penalty of Rs122.82 lakh was imposed on 506 sites of the old eight corporations and a penalty of Rs 1.058 lakh was imposed on 35 sites of the new nine corporations.
