Two jawans of a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were shot dead and two others suffered injuries during a clash between personnel at Porbandar district of Gujarat where they were deployed for election duty.
The incident took place at a cyclone relief centre which was being used by the CAPF jawans.
“The firing happened at the cyclone relief centre at Tukda Gosa, where CAPF teams were camping, at around 7 pm. They had come to provide security during the election. There was internal firing. Two died and two were injured,” A M Sharma, District Collector and District Election Officer for Porbandar told The Indian Express.
“I am presently at the hospital, where the two injured persons are being treated. They are safe,” Sharma said. The injured were brought to Bhavsinghji hospital at Porbandar.
Asked what led to the incident, the official said the reason was still being looked into.
