The killing of a Naroda Patiya resident, who was found dead in a Mehsana hotel on Tuesday,is suspected to be a murder in “cold blood”. The victim,Saed Khan Pathan, was stabbed 24 times.

However, sources said Pathan was allegedly having a love affair with a girl which led to his death. Mehsana Police claimed that they haven’t received any input so far that Saed was killed due to an alleged love affair, but they believe “it is a case of cold blooded murder”.

Pathan was working as driver with a driving agency. The accused Sandip Patel, who owns a travel agency, had asked Saed to go to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel airport to pick up a client.

However,Sandip made him wait for two hours at the airport and later said that the client was not coming. Later,he asked Saed to drive him to Udaipur in Rajasthan where he (Sandip) has to go and meet the said client.

When they reached Mehsana district,he told Saed to stop the car at Janpath Hotel and asked him to rest for a while in the hotel.

According to Mehsana police,Sandip had booked a room (number 110) in advance. They checked in at 8:30am. After three hours, the hotel staff heard that someone was screaming for life inside the room. They broke open the door and found Saed dead.

The accused Sandip, who jumped from the second floor of the hotel while trying to escape from the spot,is admitted to Mehsana Civil Hospital.

However,he claimed that Saed was in an inebriated state and was trying to rob his gold jewellery.

Investigating officer,Sub-Inspector A I Vadukar said,“Sandip has claimed that Saed was trying to rob his jewellery and cash. While trying to save his valuables,he had get into a scuffle with him and accidentally stabbed him.”

However, sources said Saed was having an affair with a Hindu girl from a long time. The girl’s family was against the relationship and has tried to pressurize Saed in past too to break off the relation.

“Until Sandip fully recovers,we cannot reach to a conclusion in this case,” said a police official.
