Peacock poaching: Bones recovered from sanctuary

National bird peacock poaching on large scale from Wild Ass Sanctuary in Rapar taluka of Kutch district was reported after several bones,wings and feathers were recovered here on Tuesday.

National bird peacock poaching on large scale from Wild Ass Sanctuary in Rapar taluka of Kutch district was reported after several bones,wings and feathers were recovered here on Tuesday.

The forest department detained five persons in this regard. Wings and feathers were recovered in Maanjuvat village,which is home to some 150 peacocks.

“Wings and feathers have been collected in very big number,” said in-charge office of the sanctuary E L Goswami. However,he said,“It is difficult to say at this point how many peacocks were affected.” “We have detained five persons. Interrogation will reveal other details,” Goswami said.
