The city Detection of Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested another person from Jamnagar for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s ISI.

The man, identified as Idris Mandat Pinjara (33),has been as a private security guard at the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation’s office.

Idris lived in Khoja Chakla area of Jamnagar from where he was picked up on October 21 for questioning.

The prime suspect in the case,Sirajuddin Fakir, who is in DCB custody,is said to have disclosed information leading to the arrest of Idris.

ACP (Crime) Nirlipt Rai told mediapersons on Tuesday,“Idris is another big agent hired by the ISI to gather information on Indian armed forces in Gujarat. He was in regular contact with one Tahir in Karachi, who had hired Fakir to collect information from Army cantonments.”

Idris came under the DCB radar after the arrest of Fakir and his aide Mohmmad Ayub Khan a few days ago.

“Idris has a strong connection in Pakistan. His sister lives there, while his brother Aslam has stayed in Pakistan for a long period. He first went on a 15-day VISA but stayed there for five years,” he said.

The DCB officials suspect both Idris and Aslam were working for the ISI. Idris’s sister was also helping her two brothers in developing contacts in Pakistan, officials said.

“Normally, those who overstay do not get VISAs again in any country, but the the ISI managed another VISA for Aslam to bring him to Pakistan again. Aslam reportedly left for Pakistan recently,” the DCB officer further said.

According to DCB,Idris was working in the state following Tahir’s instructions. Tahir was paying money to Idris with the help of the Western Union Money Transfer from bank accounts in Saudi Arabi, police suspect.

Tahir was allegedly using Fakir to get information from Ahmedabad,Gandhinagar and Bhuj cantonments, while Idris was his key man who was allegedly getting information on Air Force camp in Jamnagar.

The Cyber Cell of the DCB has also reportedly been probing the emails, transactions and communications exchanged between Tahir and Idris.

Idris used to pass on information mainly through phone and emails.

Idris is believed to have used some local numbers from Jamnagar to call in Pakistan. The DCB is analysing the call records of suspected numbers.

Idris’s mother Bilkisbano and his daughter also left for Pakistan 10 days ago reportedly to meet his sister soon after Aslam’s departure, police said.
