On her first foreign tour, CM Anandiben Patel may join Modi to China

As state head, she led the seventh edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit this year.

With an eye on attracting more investment to state, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel’s first foreign tour is likely to happen next week. She may join Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his May 14-16 trip to China. She is reportedly one of the three Chief Ministers, along with her counterpart from Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, who will be part of the PM’s visiting team.

While the Chief Minister Office here maintained that things are yet to be finalised, sources said that Patel will be accompanied by Ahmedabad Mayor Meenaxi Patel and a delegation comprising top officials, industrialists and businessmen from the state.

Patel, who became the first woman chief minister of Gujarat in May 2014 when her predecessor Modi moved to become Prime Minister, is yet to go on any official foreign tour even after an year of being at the helm.

As state head, she led the seventh edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit this year. However, her travel itinerary has remained limited within India.
