The Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC),Monday,announced residents would now be able to register complaints related to road,streetlights,water,drainage and cleanliness at its ward offices Thursday onwards.
Presently,a person has to register complaints with RMCs call centre and,in case of delay,has to approach officers of the concerned department at respective zonal office or the RMC head office. However,Thursday onwards,officers of these departments will be present at RMC offices in all 23 administrative zones. Civic officers,one of them a deputy engineer,will remain present at ward offices to register complaints about streetlights,roads,water supply,drainage and cleanliness and would address them in a weeks time, municipal commissioner Ajay Bhadu announced at a press conference Monday.
The complaints will be registered from Monday to Friday between 10:30 am and 11:30 am. In case a ward has more than one office,the officers will remain present in all the offices on given days, said Bhadu. The RMC has 42 offices in 23 wards across three zones in the city. Presently,these offices accept complaints about municipal waste.
The officers will accept complaints relating to repair,maintenance and minor works like streetlights not working or an overflowing drainage line. This will lessen the burden on the call centre and the civic centres of RMC, the commissioner added.
City mayor Raksha Boliya said the move was intended to take grievance redressal services closer to residents. They will no longer have to go to zonal offices or the head office to get a road patched or a leaking water supply line plugged, she said.
