No chance of becoming PM after polls: Rahul

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi said he has “no chance” of becoming the Prime Minister if the party returns to power in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi said he has “no chance” of becoming the Prime Minister if the party returns to power in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“No chance. The Congress has already decided on incumbent Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as the UPA candidate for the post. The question does not arise,” Rahul said during his interaction with the tribals here on Sunday.

He,however,added that he “cannot say anything about the distant future”.

“As to whether I will be the prime ministerial candidate in 2014,I cannot say anything now,” the 38-year-old replied when a youth in Sanali village of Danta taluka asked him when he would become the Prime Minister.

Rahul wrapped up his two-day whirlwind tour of Gujarat on Monday evening.

He started the second day of his tour by visiting the Ambaji Temple in north Gujarat early in the morning. Then he went to Gandhinagar where he inspected an enrolment drive by the Youth Congress.

After Gandhinagar,Rahul visited the Youth Congress enrolment booth in the Khanapur area in Banaskantha and met the people who had lined up to join the party.
