Nitish says Modi’s remarks justify snapping ties with BJP

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that the kind of language used (by Gujarat CM Narendra Modi) in the last three days vindicates the JD(U)’s decision of snapping ties with the BJP

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that the kind of language used (by Gujarat CM Narendra Modi) in the last three days vindicates the JD(U)’s decision of snapping ties with the BJP.

Nitish was indirectly referring to Modi’s “puppy” and “burqa” remarks.

Speaking to reporters after the weekly Janta Durbar,Nitish Kumar said,“I am not quoting anything but the kind of language used on two occasions in the last three days has further supported our stand of severing ties with the BJP. What we had been apprehending is now being done with shameless audacity. With each passing day,we are being given reasons to believe that we were right. The cat is out of the bag.”

Asked to react on Modi accusing the Congress of hiding behind the “burqa of secularism”,Nitish said: “Some people are venting out their frustration. Time alone will prove who is right.”

Asked about speculation regarding the JD(U)’s alliance with the Congress,Nitish said,“We have been critical of the UPA on several issues. We have raised several objections to the food security Bill. Some of our suggestions were accepted. It would have been better if a law was enacted after a thorough discussion in Parliament, taking opinions of all the parties. But bringing ordinance is very much under the ambit of law.”
