State’s Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama Tuesday warned the management of Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) and said that it would be held responsible if any future incident of eve-teasing or sexual harassment happens on the campus.

The minister, who was at the university to inaugurate the newly renovated guest house in the Pratapsinhrao Gaekwad area of the campus, said,“We are aware about the incident that occurred in the campus last week and such incidents are not welcome. The university management has to take responsibility for this and tighten the security in the campus”.

Last week,a woman lecturer had registered a complaint of eve-teasing by a student in the campus.

Meanwhile, the women’s grievance redressal cell and the proctorial board have submitted their report on the incident to the standing committee of the university.

The committee will meet on July 26 to decide further course of action against the student, identified as Zahid Pathan,if he is found guilty.

MSU vice-chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh said,“We will decide on the action to be initiated against the student once the probe reports are examined. If he is guilty,we will take appropriate action against him in this case so that an example is set for other students even thinking of indulging in such acts.”
