The dean of the faculty of commerce, the largest faculty of the MS University (MSU) — Parimal Vyas — will continue on his post as his resignation tendered to the Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh was declined by the university’s syndicate which met on Tuesday.
The university officials said that the syndicate had declined the resignation of Vyas and has instead decided to appoint him as a dual professor — a scheme launched by the university in August 2013, with Vyas being its first beneficiary.
With this, Vyas will not just stay on as the dean of the faculty of commerce till his tenure ends in August, but will also serve as the faculty of the management studies stream, and can also act as a guide for doctorate students from both the faculties.
“Professor Parimal Vyas was appointed as a dual professor at the faculty of management studies. This is the first appointment under the scheme of dual professorship passed by the MSU. He will now be entitled to teach at both the faculties and also guide research students.
The Syndicate decided not to accept the resignation tendered by him and requested him to continue in his position,” university conveyed this following the meeting.
As per the scheme, a senior professor with more than 10 years of experience and performance score of more than 400 points can be appointed as a joint professor in a department that is related to his subject area.
