Former India cricketer Nayan Mongia has been asked by a local court to settle his dispute with his mother or approach a Lok Adalat here on Sunday to resolve her complaint of domestic violence against him.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate D K Mulla made the suggestion to Mongia on September 12 while hearing a complaint filed by Mongias mother Gyandevi (69) alleging torture and domestic violence by his son and daughter-in-law.
This a matter that involves your family and its better if you sort out the things, the judge suggested to Mongia while hearing his mothers complaint, seeking monthly maintenance and Rs 7 lakh spent by her on medical expenses following a recent bypass surgery.
Gyandevi had claimed that after her husbands death two years ago,she was ill-treated by her son and daughter-in-law. She was forced to stay with her daughter in Mumbai since March last year.
Mongia has challenged the jurisdiction of the court to hear the matter saying they were residents of Vadodara and hence, the Borivali court could not hear the matter. The court has yet to pass an order on the issue of jurisdiction.
