(File Representational Photo) The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Monday issued an orange alert for May 10 and May 11 after a warning by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on rising temperatures in the city.
According to an IMD forecast, the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad is expected to touch 43 degrees Celsius on May 10 and May 11, while the minimum temperature will be as high as 28 degrees Celsius.
AMC has also issued an advisory against high temperature for the two days under its heat wave action plan. The IMD forecast also stated that the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad would remain 42 degrees Celsius on May 9 and May 12
On Monday, Surendranagar recorded the highest temperature of 42 degrees Celsius.
Other centres that recorded mercury above 40 degrees were Rajkot 41.7 degrees Celsius, Ahmedabad 41.6, Gandhinagar 41.4, Kandla Airport 41.2, Deesa at 40.5, Vadodara 40.2 and Bhuj at 41 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperatures were between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius.
