Around two dozen workers of the BJP in Mehsana district have quit the party for not considering their demand for formation of Gozariya taluka. However, the district unit party president Rushikesh Patel said that those who left the party were not holding high ranks in the organisation.
Patel, who is also MLA from Visnagar, said it was difficult to meet the demand because nearly 80 per cent of the surrounding villages were not ready to accept it.
He said that the supporters of the new Gozariya taluka had met him recently and discussed the situation, but all in vain.
Patel said that even state Finance and Health Minister Nitin Patel, who also hails from Mehsana district, had addressed a public meeting at Saldi village to convince the villagers.

The Mehsana district has nine talukas and 589 villages. The decision on the matter will be taken by the state government and top bureaucracy. Till then nothing can be said about the announcement of a new taluka, he said.
