A construction labourer was injured in a low-intensity blast near Nana Chiloda at 100 Feet Sardar Patel Ring Road in Ahmedabad when he stepped on a bag that was containing an assembled crude bomb.
The labourer had reportedly went to relieve himself in the bushes by the roadside in the afternoon hours when there was not much traffic on the road.
The injured,identified as Ram Singh,who has sustained injuries on his face and legs.
Singh is working at an upcoming residential scheme Keshav Bungalows. The sound of the blast left the labourers working at the construction site scared and they raised an alarm.
Police and bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot and found the man lying in a pool of blood. Soon,policemen from Naroda and other neighbouring police stations joined them and cordoned off the area.
After a thorough search,police said it was a countrymade bomb kept inside a bag that was found dumped near the bushes at the roadside.
Inspector M A Vala said,The bomb exploded when the labourer stepped on the bag. He has injured on his face and legs. After his initial treatment,we will question him.
Police said other labourers working in the area would also be questioned for some leads.
