Laid off, diamond polisher who consumed poison dies

However, Bhavesh lost the job two weeks ago as his employer was facing the burnt of the market crisis, the sources said, adding he tried hard to get another job, but was left disappointed.

“My brother was earning Rs 20,000 per month and was skilled in cutting and polishing diamonds. The factory owner did not give him salary for 15 days that he worked, and had told him to find job in another factory. I was also working as diamond polisher and for the past 20 days I am jobless. My father is at home and he was a diamond polisher too, but due to poor eye sight, he is at home for a few years,” Ashwin Prajapati, Bhavesh’s elder brother, told The Indian Express. Bhavesh’s ex-employer could not be reached for comments.

Ashwin said: “Bhavesh was in stress for the last few days, worrying about how to support the family.”  Kapodara police inspector B K Vanar said: “We have learnt that he was jobless for15 days. The family is poor and even his elder brother who is also a diamond artisan is jobless since last 20 days.”
