A labourer, who had allegedly kidnapped a minor girl from Dhrol town in Jamnagar two weeks ago, surrendered before Dhrol police late on Friday even as another similar complaint of kidnapping was registered that day with the same police station, police said on Sunday.

Aravind Makwana (25) surrendered before the circle police inspector (CPI) of Dhrol on Friday with the minor girl. Makwana, a casual labourer, had allegedly kidnapped and later raped his 16-year-old co-worker, also a resident of Dhrol, on July 16. The victim’s mother had filed a complaint of kidnapping on July 21 in this connection.

“Medical examination of the girl confirmed that she was raped. The accused is claiming they had stayed in Chotial in Surendrangar district after running away from Dhrol,” in-charge CPI of Dhrol, Kishorsinh Zala, said. Makwana is in police custody while the victim has been sent to her parents’ home, police said.

Meanwhile, a farm labourer from Latipur village of Dhrol lodged a complaint with police on Friday saying that his 17-year-old daughter was kidnapped by a man from the same village on July 26. A week after she was kidnapped, police said there was no trace of the victim or the accused.
