Khakhrawala son held for slapping employee

Ashish Halwawala,son of Induben Khakhrawala,who started the popular joint of Gujarati snacks,was arrested by Navrangpura police allegedly for confining and slapping one of his employees on Thursday.

Ashish Halwawala,son of Induben Khakhrawala,who started the popular joint of Gujarati snacks,was arrested by Navrangpura police allegedly for confining and slapping one of his employees on Thursday. Later,he was produced before a local court,which released him on bail.

Police said the employee,identified as Dilip,wanted to quit the job,against Halwawala’s will. Halwawala has denied having slapped the employee.

Passport offices to remain open today

In view of rising number of scheduled appointments for passports,the two Passport Sewa Kendra in Ahmedabad and one each in Baroda and Rajkot will be functioning on Saturday. Regional Passport Officer Z A Khan said the arrangement has specifically been done for this Saturday considering the heavy rush of applications for passports.

He said a total of 2,400 appointments have been given,which will be cleared by the day. On an average,these passport centres get about 1400 to 1500 applications or appointments.
