Kites fight a ‘proxy war’ against Pakistan

Kite flying in the city has gone jingoistic this Uttarayan. Children from the Khakhra-Hatkeshwar area have chosen the theme ‘War with Pakistan is the only way to tackle terrorism sponsored from across the border,’ for this festival.

In the countdown to the kite festival, the locality saw a one-hour proxy ‘kite war’ with the combatants dividing themselves into India and Pakistan groups. The idea is to spread the message through kites, says Nimesh Shah, one of the kids among the ‘warring’ groups.
