Budhwani, who divorced her husband about nine years ago, was in a relationship with Rakesh Vasava for several years. Police said, during the investigation, Vasava revealed that he was irked by Budhwani’s refusal to carry on with their relationship.
An officer of the City police said, “Budhwani has said that about a year ago, she called off their relationship in order to focus on her children. However, he was pestering her to continue their relationship. When she refused, he threatened to abduct her. However, she did not take it seriously. On Wednesday night, Vasava called Budhwani to a local hotel, where he was waiting with his friends. Budhwani was accompanied by daughter and Vasava asked her to accompany him. When she refused, in front of her daughter, they assaulted her and dumped her in the car and abducted her.”
It was Budhwani’s daughter who informed the police about the incident.
The police formed a team to trace her abductors and arrested Vasava and his two friends for abduction and criminal intimidation.
