In view of the upcoming IPL matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 26 and May 28, the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Thursday said it will operate Ahmedabad Metro for extended hours and will also issue “special paper tickets” to facilitate return journeys.
The special paper tickets will be available at a flat price of Rs 25 which can be used to travel only from Motera Stadium Metro Station to any operational Metro station on both the lines — North-South Corridor and the East-West Corridor.
The corporation in a statement said, “Travel using special paper tickets will be allowed only till the extended revenue hours of the GMRC on the mentioned days from Motera Stadium Metro Station only.”
The special paper tickets can be purchased in advance at the Motera Stadium Metro Station from 12:00 pm onwards on both May 26 and May 28 to avoid waiting in queues to buy return tickets.
On May 26 and May 28, Ahmedabad Metro will run from 7 am to 1.30 am the next day. The Metro services are usually available till 10 pm. “On the match days, the trains will operate on both the lines — North-South Corridor and the East-West Corridor,” the GMRC informed.
Apart from special paper tickets, entry with contactless smart tokens, contactless smart cards (GMRC Travel Card and NCMC card) will also be permitted, the GMRC added.
On May 26, home team Gujarat Titans will face Mumbai Indians in an eliminator match at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The winner of this match will play Chennai Super Kings in the finals at the same venue on May 28.
