THE INSTITUTE of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) at Medicity, Ahmedabad, became the only hospital in the country to complete 500 kidney transplants in 2025, the health department said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the department said the institute completed 500 kidney transplants by December 30 in 2025. In 2024, the institute carried out a total of 443 kidney transplants, the statement said.
These 500 kidney transplant patients include 367 men and 133 women. While 330 kidney recipients were from Gujarat, 170 patients were from other states.
IKDRC carried out a total of 157 cadaver transplants, 90 swap transplants, 49 pediatric (children) transplants and 43 robotic transplants, the statement said.
