The Indian Diamond Institute (IDI) of Surat is planning to set up a India-Africa Diamond Institute in Botswana,the deal for which was signed in the Indo African Foreign Summit that was held in New Delhi in 2008. A delegation from India met with government officials and diamond businessmen in Botswana to finalize the decision this week. According to the IDI, the courses to be taught at the institute in Botswana would include,diamond cutting,polishing and grading along with jewellery manufacturing. The faculty from India will stay in Botswana for three months and provide training to the professionals at Botswana. Our support and guidance will be given for a period of three years. Later,the trained professionals will impart the training to the African youths added an official of the IDI.
