Inadequate water coolers at Arts faculty give students a parched throat

Faculty representative Tausif Shaikh said: “Only few of the coolers are properly functioning. In some of the departments,which have proper drinking water facility,they are closed immediately after the classes get over. Thus,students who stay back after the college hours cannot use them.”

He added that with exams round the corner,many students prefer to stay back in the campus and library for study purposes.

He said: “It is already very hot here. The faculty should make provision for proper water coolers. But no immediate action was taken when the matter was pointed out to the dean of the faculty.”

Professor Nitin Vyas, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts said: “We have recently installed six RO water systems in the faculty. Besides,there are three water coolers in the faculty main building and three in various other departments.”

He added: “Such matters are certainly taken into consideration. But the students make such demands and expect us to fulfil them in a day. All such facilities are planned as per the funds available with us.”
