In Surat, 1.91 lakh students register for Class X, XII board exams; rise of over 50K from last year
In the 2022-23 session, of the 1,40,312 students who registered, 1,39,886 appeared for the board exams.

Around 1.91 lakh students from Surat have registered to appear for the Gujarat state board exams beginning March 11 – an increase of over 51,018 students when compared to the 2021-22 academic session when highest number of students from the city had appeared and cleared classes X and XII Commerce stream exams.
Officials said that 613 examination centres will come up in different schools for the purpose. While Class X exams will be conducted at 347 centres, Class XII Commerce exams will be held at 192 centres and Class XII Science exams at 74 centres.

The examinations of classes X and XII Science stream will commence on March 11 and end on March 22, while examination of Class XII Commerce stream will begin from March 11 and end on March 26.
Surat District Education Officer (DEO) Bhagirathsinh Parmar said, “We have made all arrangements to ensure students do not face difficulties in reaching the examination centres. As Metro railway work is in progress, which routes have been diverted, and thus we have selected those schools that are not affected by such work. We have also coordinated with Torrent Power and Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited for seamless power supply.”
Last year, at 76,740, the highest number of students from Surat had appeared for Class X board exams. Among them, 76.45 per cent had cleared the exams – highest in the state. The pass percentage of Ahmedabad was 66.32, Vadodara 62.24 and Rajkot 72.74.

According to the data provided by the Surat DEO office, of the 1,91,330 registered students, 1.10, 970 are to sit for Class X exams next month, followed by 62,340 for Class XI Commerce exams and 18,020 for Class XII Science exams.
