The fight for the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) elections is now out in the open. It is Samarajitsinh Gaekwad versus the group of former cricketers, supporting the reigning president of BCA,Chirayu Amin.

On Sunday, the group of cricketers, launched themselves as “Revival BCA – Cricket First” and released a manifesto that lists their intention to develop the infrastructure of cricket in Vadodara and develop cricket as a game.

The group, which positions itself as an initiative by the cricketers with Chirayu Amin and the Jaywant Lele group says it aims “to be the finest cricket association, working for the betterment of the game”.

Former cricketers Kiran More,Anshuman Gaekwad,Nayan Mongia and Narayan Satam, said the current management of the BCA,which was being run by business minded non-cricketers had ruined the game of cricket in Vadodara by sidelining cricketers.

Former wicket-keeper Nayan Mongia said that he was unceremoniously dropped from the Cricket Improvement Committee because he raised questions about the way things were being managed in the BCA. Mongia said,“I still don’t know why I was removed from the CIC. The suggestions I made to the BCA to improve cricket at the junior-level and club-level were not taken but they could have helped the game improve.”

The cricketers denied that their anger with the BCA management was also directed at its present president Chirayu Amin. Anshuman Gaekwad, former coach of Indian cricket team, said,“The president of the BCA is just one person and cannot do things if his team is not ready for changes. We know that he is genuinely interested in implementing the ideas that former cricketers have for the game here.”
