Three persons have been booked after Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and beer worth more than Rs 1 lakh were seized from the basements of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) multi-level parking and commercial complex in the Navrangpura area of Ahmedabad on Tuesday night.
According to an FIR filed at the Detection of Crime Branch police station, the police, while on patrol, received an input stating that IMFL and beer brought from Chandigarh, Punjab and Rajasthan in five cars were stocked at the multi parking facility. One of the cars — Fortuner — was without a number plate.
Upon searching the cars parked in the basements 1 and 2, the police found the IMFL and beer cans worth Rs 1.33 lakh. “One of the cars belonged to Chandkheda resident Ashish Parmar and two belonged to Kuntal Bhatt, a resident of Khadia. We still have to find out about the owner of the other two,” said Ahmedabad Crime Branch inspector PK Gohil.
The police have booked Parmar, Bhatt and Mutalif alias Munna, a resident of Juhapura, under various sections of the Prohibition Act. The three accused were earlier too booked under the Prohibition Act for which cases were registered at the Waghodia and Vadaj police stations. “The role of Mutalif was to bring liquor from the other states, while Ashish’s was to sell. They are all wanted and the search for them is still going on,” said Gohil.
