The Indian Institute of Management,Ahmedabad (IIM-A),on Tuesday announced the appointment of Professor Ashish Nanda as the new director of the institution. While Nanda will assume charge on September 2,he will visit the campus for a few days starting August 15 to acquaint himself with the faculty and staff.
Speaking about the appointment of Nanda as the director,Chairman of Board of Governors and Society A M Naik said,IIM-A is the premier management institute in India with global recognition. It has great legacy and its students,faculties and staff form the backbone of this outstanding institute. Prof Nanda,an alumnus with an impeccable academic records,with decades of experience in leading international schools,brings in a right mix of international experience and familiarity with IIM-A. With the appointment of Prof Nanda as the director,I am sure,the institute will grow from strength to strength and chart new territories.
An alumnus of 1983 batch of IIM-A,Nanda,a Robert Braucher Professor of Practice at Harvard Law School,was among the three shortlisted candidates to IIM-As top job,along with G Raghuram and Rakesh Basant. The three names were finalised and forwarded to the Ministry of Human Resource Development by a selection committee headed by Naik in March.
