I told him not to rape me… I’m your mother
Sisters claim man tried to molest them in the past.
Still in a state of shock, she told this paper, “He did wrong with me. I told him I am your son, I gave birth to you. Don’t do this to me. But he didn’t hear a word. He will pay for this. God will not spare him”.
The sixty-year old woman, who was allegedly raped by her own son, has termed him as a “sexual pervert”. The woman was discharged from the Ahmedabad civil hospital on Monday. Staying at her daughter’s house in Viratnagar area near Vatva in Ahmedabad, she plans to go back to her village, Juma in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, never to return. Her accused son, Shukun Singh, 29, paints buildings for a living.
Still in a state of shock, she told this paper, “He did wrong with me. I told him you are my son, I gave birth to you. Don’t do this to me. But he didn’t hear a word. He will pay for this. God will not spare him”.

She says, “On the night of June 13, I was returning from my younger daughter’s house with him (the accused) in an auto-rickshaw. When we were passing from a secluded area, he asked me to get down. When I asked why did he take the unfamiliar road, he started walking into the bushes. After a few minutes, he asked me to come with him. When I did, he held my neck tight and threw me on the ground. He tied my face and tore my clothes. He was under influence of some drug or alcohol.”
She further said, “He raped me and ran away from there. I took the help of a passer-by and rushed to my daughter’s house. After his arrest, he told police that he was drunk and that he made a mistake. Is this a mistake?”The old woman, a widow, works as a cleaner in a municipal school back home in her village in UP and earns Rs 1,000 a month.
Singh and his three sisters were born in Jamu and migrated to Gujarat for work almost 20 years back. His three sisters are married and settled in Ahmedabad and Surat and had snapped ties with him when he was 17 and was arrested in a case of theft. Two of his sisters allege they were sexually assaulted by him 10 years back, but their mother did not let them complain. Shukun’s sister said, “When my mother reached home, she was shivering like a leaf. We thought she had got a fit. She would neither drink nor eat. After a few minutes, she told me that Shukun had raped her. Disgusted, I decided to complain this time and called the police.”
She added, “He is a pervert. He tried to molest me at my home in Viratnagar when he moved to Ahmedabad, but I pushed him away and threw him out of my house. After that we cut off all ties. When I told my elder sister, she told me she had had a similar encounter with him in Surat.”
Shukun’s sisters claim he is addicted to ganja and charas and had also tried to rape a five-year-old girl, but was beaten up by the girl’s family members. Vatva Inspector P B Rana, who has been interrogating him, said, “We were suspecting that he suffers from sexual perversion and now his sisters are also saying that. The doctors are yet to perform all tests on him. The day we arrested him, he cried and accepted his crime, but when he was questioned for reasons behind it, he claimed he was not in his senses.”
