Two days after a 28-year-old Vadodara unit Shiv Sena worker was stabbed to death at the house of a BJP women wing executive in Kutch district, police on Monday were still looking for her accused husband who runs a transport firm.
The investigators said Taruna Chaturani’s husband Rajesh allegedly killed Manjit Rajkumar Gyanchandani in a fit of rage over his wife’s “affair” with the victim.
According to Gandhidham police, the incident happened on Saturday when Manjit was visiting the couple’s house to discuss the matter. Police said Rajesh stabbed Manjit seven times.

Manjit and Taruna met a few months ago in Vadodara and soon developed a relationship, the investigators said.
“Taruna has told us that Manjit was forcing her to divorce Rajesh, and move with him to Vadodara, where they would marry. However, she did not want to end her marriage and had called Manjit to her home in Kutch to discuss the issue. During the meeting on Saturday, Taruna said her husband Rajesh stabbed Manjit seven times in anger, killing him instantly. Taruna had called police herself after Rajesh fled from the house,” a police officer said.
Manjit had fallen “deeply in love” with Taruna, who has a son, the officer said, adding, “we are questioning Taruna to understand her role in this murder.”
“Her confession of having called Manjit to her home and the presence of her husband while she sorted out the affair with her lover is not a palatable logic. We are trying to ascertain whether the couple hatched the plan to murder Manjit,” the officer said
Gandhidham police, who were still looking for Rajesh — the only accused in the case, said “Taruna may be made a co-accused later, depending upon the investigation.” While no arrest has been made so far, Taruna continues to be in detention.
