A pride of lions triggered fear and panic at the Lasa Khambha village in Amreli district, when these animals strayed into the residential area during night hours and kept the locals awake.
The incident took place on Thursday night, when a group of eight hungry lions strayed into the village around 11pm,forcing scared residents to lock themselves in their houses.
According to villagers, the lions killed a stray cow to satisfy their hunger. The animals also tried to attack people and pulled down bricks of houses,to prey on them.
Dr Sandeep kumar,Deputy Conservator of Forest in Gir,said these lions frequented mostly the villages in the Khambha area, which is close to the sanctuary.
