Hit-and-run: Car owner in police remand for a day

The Ahmedabad district court Thursday remanded Vismay Shah,the 27-year-old youth accused in the BMW hit-and-run case in which two youths were killed,in police custody for a day.

The Ahmedabad district court Thursday remanded Vismay Shah,the 27-year-old youth accused in the BMW hit-and-run case in which two youths were killed,in police custody for a day. The Vastrapur police had sought his remand for five days.

On February 24 night,Shah had allegedly recklessly drove his BMW car on the Judges’ Bungalow Road in the Vastrapur area of the city,hitting four youths riding motorcycles. One of them died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.

Shah,who surrendered before police Wednesday,has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

In its application,police had sought to investigate if Shah was drunk while driving and who others were in his car when the accident took place.
