The Ahmedabad Crime Branch officials on Sunday reconstructed Prakash Soni murder and loot case in Vastrapur in presence of history-sheeter Vishal Goswami, who was arrested from Uttar Pradesh in a joint operation a day earlier.
The officials recorded the entire incident on how Soni was followed and shot allegedly by Goswami’s gang and looted of jewellery. Goswami reportedly narrated the sequence of events to the police and how his gang kept watch on him. The forensic officials were also present at the spot during the reconstruction.
He was produced before a court on Sunday and sent to four-day police custody. The police had seized two pistols, live cartridges and 31 mobile phones from Goswami’s car during his arrest.
DCP (Crime) Deepan Bhadran said, “Vishal and Ajay were in our custody for 24 hours and now been granted remand for four days. The others have been granted seven-day remand for the interrogation.”
After Goswami was brought to Ahmedabad, he reportedly requested that he should be admitted to a hospital instead of being kept in custody claiming pain in his legs.
A DCB official, who was a part of the operation, said, “When he was about to fire on the police team and flee, the team shot at this leg to evade his escape. He was immediately taken to the hospital in Mathura and later released. However, after being brought here, he refused to stand up or walk claiming severe pain.”
As per reports, the gang first looted Rs 12 lakh from a Bank of Indian branch in Kutch. Later, the gang started targeting jewellers in Ahmedabad.
