The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday stayed till June 23 eviction of hawkers and vendors and any fresh construction at the Gurjari market near Ellisbridge here by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) without the court’s permission.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice S J Mukhopadhaya and Justice J B Pardiwala passed an order to this effect while acting on a Public Interest Litigation filed by a professor,Navdeep Mathur,of the Indian Institute of Management,Ahmedabad (IIM-A).
