The licensed firearm of Amreli resident deputy collector (RDC) was stolen when burglars broke into his official residence in Amreli city,said police sources. The officer was out of station on poll duty when the incident occurred.
Thieves broke into block no 2/4,the official residence of R R Raval (RDC) located in Sukhnivas colony. The incident occurred any time between April 18 and 20,but surfaced on Monday when Ravals neighbour,A M Bharada,Deputy District Election Officer,sensed something fishy and informed the police.
Police investigation revealed that thieves broke open the safe and disappeared with Ravals licensed weapon,a .22 bore revolver worth Rs 60,000,25 cartridges,and cash to the tune of Rs 8,000.
Amreli city police have registered a complaint under Sections 454,457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code.
