Two persons were allegedly murdered in two different incidents within hours of each other in Bhavnagar city on Monday with the police saying the twin crime were unrelated to each other.
The first incident took place in Kumbharwada area of Bhavnagar when six persons attacked Zahid Padharshi (33) near his residence at around 9:30 pm on Sunday. The police said four men and two women assaulted Padharshi, a timber trader, with swords, steel pipes and wooden clubs and then ran away. Injured Padharshi was rushed to Sir T General Hospital in Bhavnagar where he died while undergoing treatment in the wee hours on Monday, D Division police of Bhavnagar said.
In his complaint, Padharshi’s younger brother Salim named Saifuddin Sim, his wife Sona, son Salim and three others as accused.
“Padharshi and Saifuddin live in the same locality and the duo had tiff around a year ago. But it was sorted out then. However, Saifuddin attacked Padharshi again on Sunday due to the same old dispute,” Vikram Rabari, the police inspector of D Division said.
After 11 hours, Mehul alias Pintu Dave (29) was found dead inside the garden of Dipak Circle in the jurisdiction of B Division police of Bhavanagar at 8:30 am. Police said the victim was hit with some blunt object in head and murdered.
“Dave was unemployed and unmarried. He had habit of drinking and we suspect that someone known to him has killed him,” Ghanshyam Bambhaniya, B Division police inspector said.
However, Bhavnagar police said, prima facie, the two incidents were not related to each other.
