Gujarat: Two-day national meet on digital India, land administration and disaster management to be held

A two-day national conference on Digital India, Land Administration and Disaster Management will be held at Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar on October 3 and 4, said an official release on Monday. The conference will focus on the vision for achieving the objectives of the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Program (DILRMP), along with knowledge sharing, capacity building, best practices, innovation case studies, and policy frameworks, it added.

Addressing a press conference, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Department Jayanti Ravi said that the conference will be based on seven themes – modernising revenue laws for citizen-centric governance, upgradation of land record and registration systems, creation and updating of urban land records, revenue court cases: process re-engineering, resurvey efforts and land acquisition: current realities and way forward, best practices and experience sharing in disaster management and human resource planning for modern land administration.

Officers from the central and state governments, experts from various states and representatives from organisations such as National Informatics Centre, Survey of India, National Disaster Management Authority, Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority, BISAG-N, Gujarat National Law University, IIT Gandhinagar, Indian Space Research ORganisation, CEPT, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Land Stack, the banking sector, tech companies, real estate sector and advocates will participate.

Ravi said that similar conferences have earlier been organised in states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala and at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie.
