A 32-year-old man has been arrested in Ankleshwar town of Bharuch for allegedly murdering his 38-year-old wife by injecting cyanide solution in her saline drip bottle while she was admitted in a hospital a month ago.
According to police, the accused Jignesh Patel, was married to Urmila Vasava. The couple lived in Ankleshwar city. A month ago, Urmila complained of chest pain and was admitted to a private hospital. However, a day later, she died in the hospital under suspicious circumstances.
Police registered a case of accidental death and sent her viscera samples to forensic science laboratory (FSL). According to police, the accused was held after a FSL report confirmed injecting her with cyanide as the reason of death.
Police said that the couple was having a marital discord and when Urmila was admitted to hospital, Jignesh injected a cyanide solution into the saline drip given to Urmila.
Speaking to The Indian Express, VN Rabari, police inspector, Ankleshwar city police station, said, “The accused was arrested for murder a month after the FSL report came out. He had injected the cyanide solution when there was no doctor or nurse present in patient’s room.”
