Gujarat gets Rs 23,500 crore for 2009-10

The Planning Commission on Thursday finalised Gujarat Annual Plan size for the current fiscal year at Rs 23,500 crore,which is 12 per cent higher than the last year’s allocation.

The Planning Commission on Thursday finalised Gujarat Annual Plan size for the current fiscal year at Rs 23,500 crore,which is 12 per cent higher than the last year’s allocation.

The plan size was fixed at a meeting between Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chief Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Modi told the panel that his government has planned to launch several major campaigns to contain malnutrition and harvest rainwater.

He also told the Commission that several tribal-dominated areas need to be developed in the state.
