A farmer allegedly committed suicide in Nagadka village of Surendranagar district on Friday. His family has claimed that he took the extreme step after his crop failed this Kharif season.
Police said that Heera Parmar (45) hanged himself at his residence at around 4 am. “Parmar woke up early in the morning and told his wife that he was going outside and that would return after a while. But after he did not return for around an hour, his wife started looking for him. Later, she found him hanging in another room of their house,” Sayla police sub-inspector Hardipsinh Rana said.
Dinesh, Heera’s elder brother, told police that Heera’s crop had failed due to deficient monsoon and he was going through a difficult phase financially.
