AN INVITATION by Vadodara BJP MP Hemang Joshi to Congress leader and fellow Parliamentarian Rahul Gandhi to join the ‘Unity March’ being organised to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Vadodara on November 29 and 30 has sparked a political debate. Joshi said he had extended the invitation to Gandhi as he was “known for taking out election padyatras”. Speaking to mediapersons, Joshi said, “He (Gandhi) likes to walk and is known for walking (chalna) during elections but unfortunately he does not get picked (chalte nahi hai)…”
Meanwhile, the Vadodara city unit of the Congress took out a ‘Save Constitution’ rally in Vadodara in the presence of AICC leader and the party’s Gujarat in-charge Ramkishnan Ojha. Congress spokesperson Nishant Raval reacted to Joshi’s invite for Gandhi and said, “This is an attempt to gain cheap publicity in the name of Rahul Gandhi. I want to ask Hemang Joshi… How many times has he (Joshi) been to the memorial of Sardar Patel and paid obeisance there?”
